For the final project of my bio art residency at SVA Bio Lab I was going create a piece about the narrative of my childhood in Texas. Thinking about hunting jackrabbits with my father & him teaching me how to skin them. Also, about my grandfather (a true cowboy) killing snakes bare handed by whipping them to the ground. He would then hang the snakes on posts to bring rain to our crops.

Then the shootings in Uvalde, Texas happened, and I started thinking about me playing, at their age, with my little sister in the rain making mud pies. This memory led to the piece presented here.

-21 (mud pies)
Soil, lucite plates, chili flakes, salt, blood meal, floral, stuffed rabbit, corn sprouts, rattlesnake, wood & construction mending fabric
